Under the direct supervision of the Communication Officer, the selected intern will undertake the following assignments and support the accomplishment of the related tasks, including generating related write-ups and story lines.
1.Participate in media related preparations for Expert Group meetings and other events organized by the sub-regional office,
2.Help monitor media reports (local and international) of ECA events and prepare coverage reports,
3.Build and maintain media contact databases,
4.Assist in the preparation and distribution of press kits,
5.Assist with media interview requests, and the handling of other media related inquiries
6.Disseminate press releases, speeches and conference related documents to media,
7.Support the production of audiovisual multimedia content;
8.Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed.

To qualify for an internship, the following condition must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent);
(c) Have graduated with a university degree
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in French is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of English and Arabic is an advantage.

The internship is UNPAID and full time. Interns work five days per week under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

The internship is a full-time job (five days and 35 hours / week) with a minimal duration of 2 months and possible extensions of up to six months and it is not remunerated.
Other Skills and Requirements
Be computer literate in standard software applications; Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and have a demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
United Nations Considerations
According to article 101, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations, the paramount consideration in the employment of the staff is the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity. Candidates who have committed crimes other than minor traffic offences may not be considered for employment.
