ICAO opens vacancy in Canada for English-Russian translators

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recently published in their website a vacant post for Russian Language Officer.

As a member of a team led by the Chief, Russian Translation Section, the Translator/Reviser provides timely, accurate, and stylistically appropriate translations, applying his/her linguistic skills. He/She also revises texts translated by other translators (staff members, freelancers and consultants), ensuring accuracy and quality.

The five functions expected from the translator are:
1) Translates texts covering a broad range of technical, legal or administrative subjects dealt with by ICAO
2) Carries out terminological research related to texts being translated
3) Ensures the quality of translations at all times and provide input to the development of guidelines, policies and standards for translation and revision practices
4) Self-revises and revises texts translated by other translators, including free-lance and contractual translators, ensuring their accuracy and high linguistic quality,
5) Performs other related duties as required, including but not limited to the following

A first-level degree from a university or an institution of equivalent status is required, preferably with emphasis on modern languages, or on technical, legal or scientific studies.

The annual net salary (already with taxes discounted) is US$92,606.00/year.
