UN humanitarians affairs positions world-wide - October 2015

As the world watches astonished one of the worst humanitarian crisis ever witnessed, international and inter-governmental agencies, such as United Nations, struggle against the clock to find qualified professionals who are able to manage and handle hundreds of thousands of lives, desperate for better living conditions or a simple peaceful place to call home.

Our watchful eyes identified 11 positions to be filled within United Nations, recently published in official Inspira website.

Most of them are in the strategic level, with tasks related to planning and project management, and not in direct field duties. These are coordination positions, which means that those who will fill the vacancies should understand the humanitarian response approach adopted by UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees), OCHA (UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs), NGOs, and all other actors involved in the complex, multi-level humanitarian aid response.

If you are asking yourself about field positions in the tactical level, such as direct contact and assistance with local population, be aware that UN is much more likely to recruit locally or internally for those positions. In this case, if you feel under qualified for the above mentioned positions, NGOs would be a good option for you. At the same time you get to help a population in need, you also get international experience and improve your curriculum for higher positions.

We also would like to remember you that the United Nations does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process (application, interview meeting, processing, training).
